Winbro Group Technologies Inc. Announces New Facility in York County

Investment expected to create 25 new jobs

The South Carolina Department of Commerce, York County and the City of Rock Hill announced that Winbro Group Technologies will establish its new operating facility in York County. The $10 million investment is expected to generate 25 new jobs.

“Opening the new facility in York County is an important step for our company’s future growth plans. South Carolina offers us an excellent business environment in which to operate and the skilled workforce we need. York County was able to provide us with a building that suits our needs. We look forward to bringing our new operation online and growing our presence in South Carolina increasing our exposure to the turbine industry throughout North America,” said Mike Arbon, CEO of Winbro Group Technologies.

Winbro Group Technologies will locate its new facility in Waterford Business Park in Rock Hill. The company expects to have the facility in operation by January 2011. The company is engaged in the aero engine and industrial gas turbine sectors and performs critical processes involved in the production of high pressure turbine and combustion components.

“Our state has witnessed extraordinary success over the last year in attracting aerospace investment and Winbro Group Technologies’ decision to put down roots and create jobs in South Carolina further expands the state’s aerospace industry,” Gov. Mark Sanford said. “Today’s announcement is also a telling dividend from both our efforts to create an attractive business climate at home and expand our international presence to recruit industry through efforts such as the Farnborough International Air Show, which helped to solidify this project. With today’s announcement, South Carolina further advances its role as a leading competitor in the Southeast for the aerospace industry.”

“Winbro Group represents an important milestone for York County as we look to target specialized manufacturing operations including aviation and aeronautics. We believe exceptional international manufacturing companies like Winbro and the jobs and investment they bring hold the key to a resurgent and more stable economy for our area and the entire nation,” said York County Council Chairman Buddy Motz.

“Winbro represents an exciting addition to our business community,” said Rock Hill Mayor Doug Echols. “The aero engine and industrial power markets Winbro serves are important industries for the future, and we welcome Winbro to Rock Hill.”

Winbro Group Technologies plans to hold an event next week celebrating the company’s investment in York County. The company has already began the hiring of key engineering resources.
